Climate denial, denier and its association with Fascism and mass murder

  1. First used by Mark Lynas and George Marshall in their New Statesman article of 2003 'Why we don’t give a damn'.
"Because we appear to be experiencing a disastrous form of collective denial, more typically found among societies suffering major institutional human rights abuses - such as apartheid South Africa or Nazi Germany - where individuals may understand the reality of the problems, but refuse to accept the implications."
  2. The same person: Mark Lynas, also associated 'climate denial' with Fascists and Holocaust perps:
Others frequently compare climate skeptics to holocaust deniers ... Mark Lynas, has written "I wonder what sentences judges might hand down at future international criminal tribunals on those who will be partially but directly responsible for millions of deaths from starvation, famine and disease in decades ahead." Skeptics, he argued, would be just as responsible for future deaths as those who were responsible for the holocaust.
